Synthesis and Self-Assembling Properties of Peracetylated β-1-Triazolyl Alkyl D-Glucosides and D-Galactosides

Carbohydrate-based low-molecular-weight gelators (LMWGs) are useful classes of compounds due to their numerous applications. Among sugar-based LMWGs, certain peracetylated sugar beta-triazole derivatives were found be effective organogelators and showed interesting self-assembling properties. To further understand the structural influence towards molecular assemblies obtain new functional materials with properties, we designed synthesized a library tetraacetyl beta-1-triazolyl alkyl-D-glucosides D-galactosides, in which two or three carbon spacer is inserted between anomeric position triazole moiety. A series 16 glucose 14 galactose analyzed. The properties these containing glycoconjugates different solvents Several compound 7a forming gels variety organic as well presence metal ions aqueous solutions. organogels formed by several characterized using optical microscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM) UV-vis spectroscopy, etc. co-gels Fmoc derivative 7i fluorescence enhancement upon gelation. also powder X-ray diffraction FT-IR spectroscopy. potential applications for drug delivery dye removal studied.
